Mommy Makeover
After pregnancy and breastfeeding, some women may choose a combination of cosmetic procedures known as a Mommy Makeover to regain a better physical appearance and body contour. One reason for the popularity of this procedure is that it does not follow a standard template. Each treatment plan is customized according to the patient’s individual needs.
The surgical approach usually begins with breast and abdominal contouring procedures, and additional treatments may be included if needed. After pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts and abdominal area are typically the primary areas that require attention.
During pregnancy, the breasts enlarge significantly. However, after childbirth and breastfeeding, the breasts may experience noticeable volume loss and sagging. At the same time, the abdominal muscles, skin, and tissues stretch during pregnancy to accommodate the growing baby. Unfortunately, these structures may not fully return to their original form after delivery.
Procedures That May Be Included in a Mommy Makeover
A Mommy Makeover may include the following procedures:
Breast Augmentation
Breast Lift
Breast Reduction
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Belt Lipectomy
Liposuction
Additionally, a Mommy Makeover may also include procedures such as:
Buttock Lift
Arm Lift
Buttock Augmentation
These procedures can sometimes be performed in a single session, but for safety reasons they may also be performed in multiple stages depending on the patient’s condition.
Important Things You Should Know
You may need to stay one night in the hospital after surgery.
Depending on the procedures performed, the recovery period may take 1–2 weeks.
You should avoid heavy lifting, including lifting your baby, for at least 6 weeks.
Smoking must be avoided, as it reduces blood flow, delays wound healing, and increases the risk of serious complications. Smoking should be stopped at least 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after surgery.
What Areas Does Belt Lipectomy Include?
A belt lipectomy is a body contouring procedure that addresses multiple areas of the lower torso, including:
The entire abdominal region, including the waistline and lower back in a 360-degree contouring approach
The buttocks, which may appear lifted as a result of the tissue removal and tightening
Causes of Skin Laxity and Sagging
Several factors may contribute to loss of tissue elasticity and sagging in areas such as the abdomen, hips, and buttocks, including:
Aging
Excessive sun exposure
Pregnancy
Weight fluctuations
Genetic factors
These factors can weaken the skin’s elasticity and lead to visible sagging in different parts of the body.
